PRAMEK

Culture

Physical altercations do not happen on mats in gyms. They happen in parking lots and in buildings, streets and homes…while you’re on the phone or unit radio, fumbling with groceries or equipment, rounding a corner or in a room you thought was clear.

Pramek was founded in 2004 and released to the public in 2008 with reality in mind. Pramek began as an attempt to apply one of the greatest scientific martial arts in the world, the Kadochnikov system, to the American experience. Instead, Pramek came into it’s own – with it’s own theories, principles, concepts, equipment,

Pramek is the result over decades of research and numerous researchers. From executive protection experts to special operations soldiers…great martial artists and research innovators. trial, error, failure and success. All working to create a truly universal survival learning system and a devastating combatives method that is easy to learn, constantly evolving. Be it the psychology of crime, self-defense, shooting, or how to boil tree roots: we teach it.

Pramek has key foundations that create our culture – from the way we conduct ourselves in the training room, on the street, or an online forum.

Founding

Pramek was created in 2004 by our Founder, Matt Powell. Having studied a number of what are considered the ‘scientific systems’ of Russia, Matt Powell found by combining these style’s basic tenets, with American ingenuity and combative methods, he could create something easy for a beginner to learn – and indepth enough to keep a student busy studying for 20 years. Unlike the Russian styles, Matt set out to bring in other researchers and began a process of gathering information not found in Russia to his experience. Pramek was born as much from the works of Kadochnikov as they are Karl Hans Welz and his development of autogenics.

14 years later, Pramek has been taught throughout the world, to military solider and civilian, security guard to security contractor, personal trainers to professional fighters. Combining universal science with a very specific teaching methodology, Pramek is one of the most innovative combat learning systems in the world.

Who is Matt Powell

Matt Powell has worked in the martial art and combatives community since 1998, traveling the world studying with martial art innovators from famous names to those only known in small circles. In 1998 Matt began training under world-renowned coach Scott Sonnon in the ROSS Training System. In 2000, Matt was then invited to begin studies at the A. A. Kadochnikov School in Krasnodar, Russia to study under the guidance of the man known as the father of the Russian System, A. A. Kadochnikov. Matt then was trained by the A. A. Kadochnikov School staff and the staff of the International Academy of Personal Safety under Victor Zavgorodnij. After being in the only Westerner to be asked to represent the schools and system internationally, the organization K-Sys was. Matt later wrote the first English language manual on the science of combat from a biomechanical perspective.

After working in high risk private security contracts, Matt found that his training was theoretically sound, but lacking in practical application. After discussions with his teacher in Russia, he was told it was time to move on and develop his own methods. Matt then led a group of Americans to develop a new system. The group worked to take the science of the Russian Kadochnikov and SPS system and combine it with practical applications for combat and health. Pramek was announced to the public in 2007, and fully released in 2011.

Matt has students from a range of professions – soliders and operators, military units and private security teams, to celebrities like Ludacris and I20.

We are proud of our heritage.

We do not back away from the legacy we are apart of. We see Russian martial art for what it is, and what it is not. It is born of a great people and has many good instructors who teach quality styles – it is not Spetsnaz uniforms and rolling under Russian tanks. We are proud of the heritage we have and pay homage to our Russian roots (Kadochnikov, Zavgorodnij, Shvets) by working towards our goals of a universal, scientific survival system.

Pramek is simple to learn, but never easy.

Martial art study can be daunting. In Pramek, we work to make the process simple to learn. We give you the tools – not techniques. We give you the basic knowledge of all martial art – science and movement in an easy way to understand. We don’t expect you to be Matt Powell. We expect you to be you – and utilize the knowledge. It’s not easy – but nothing worth time is ever easy.

Pramek is honest and forthright.

There is no secret knowledge in the martial arts…we don’t claim to know how to create ‘chi’ or make you into an unstoppable fighting machine. That’s not us. We will show you have to end fights quickly, how to live efficiently like your body was meant to live, and how to laugh. We are honest and we answer questions, no matter how difficult the answer. We are moral, we treat others as we want to be treated, we respect unless disrespected.

Before you can conquer another, you must first conquer yourself.

You are your own worst enemy – we will help you learn to defeat your worst enemy. When you can control yourself, even the biggest enemy is much more manageable.

Do not fight against a style, fight the human being using the style.

We do not teach sport or how to fight another person’s fight. We teach about the human using the style – their psychology, physiology, biomechanics, the physics of combat. Once your understand this you no longer worry with styles and system – you worry with the science behind them.

Innovate…

Pramek has a history of innovation, beginning in it’s roots with the first manual on combative biomechanics, ‘K-Sys: An American Understanding of the Kadochnikov System.’ Since that time, Pramek has developed world class video series, ‘The Helix & The Gear’ which is the first video breakdown of biomechanical efficiency in combative movement. Pramek has also worked with companies like SpetzGear to develop a new weapons line, the tactical spike. Pramek continues to innovate with new videos, manuals, and equipment for all students, from elite soldier’s to soccer-mom.

The Guiding Principle for all of our study is based around a simple equation:
Movement + Theory = Application

If a student is taught to move in a natural, efficient manner – then they will be healthier in living and much faster and powerful in fighting. If a student is taught the theory, they are taught by seeing, reading, and hearing – they key to any successful education. Then, be it protecting a family member or loved one, overcoming the enemy, or moving a box in the house – it is simply the application. Once a student has a grasp on both parts of the equation, they simply apply the knowledge as they see fit.
